Vintage Living... Closing

Vintage Living is closing...

it's doors after a great run these past few years.  I have enjoyed this shop more than any other I have had in the last 20 years but it is time for this shop-girl to say good-bye.  Times are hard and the small brick and mortar has been hit hard right now.  I have to tell you - I don't know where it is headed and for that reason, I don't have a vision and without vision it is time to do something else. Something will come...
I am trusting the Lord for a new vision, He is my pilot and I know good things will come. My first love is sharing how good the Lord is and my second love is my art. ( I am talking about things I do... not people) So with that in mind, the Lord has opened up some doors that are very exciting for me. I will keep you posted.

Since I am not opening or moving the shop I am selling off all my antique display cases. This cuts a little deeper as I have had them for years and I am rather fond of them. All new merchandise is 50% off right now and I am wheel'in and deal'in on the antiques. So if you are in the area stop on in!

These are the last of the photo's of the shop... it has been torn apart and I am selling it off little by little. These are the displays that are left, somewhat. After this week hopefully I will have sold quite a bit of it off.

I allowed myself a little time to feel sorry and then it was time to get to work... once I tore apart the displays I really liked, my heart was no longer in it and it has been easier to let it go.

If anyone knows of someone that might be interested in this fabulous counter, I would love to sell it. It came out of a Michigan hotel built in 1800, it was the front lobby desk. It is 17' long with the original paint.

Nice old farm table, old paint.

If you see anything you are interested in - please email me and I can give you prices.

Now I just want to take a little time to thank the many customers who have supported me through thick and thin and have followed my many stores! You are not only customers but you have become true friends and I have so loved  sharing your life. We have laughed, cried, celebrated and solved the worlds problems together and I  loved all of it and will miss that the most.
I also want to apologize to anyone that has seen the WWC article and are planning on coming to visit, I plan on being closed by mid August if not sooner.

This is not the end but a new beginning for me, I am expecting new and better things ahead.
Many Blessings

  1. Changes are tough ... Good for you for recognizing and following through!

I'm having a hard time adjusting to one myself. It's a good thing God loves me because I do give Him the run-around sometimes! I'm not so sure as to what's next except perhaps I might be there already, and that's okay.

I enjoy following your blog ... so I hope the next incarnation of you keeps posting!

Say, what is that little brownish display thing, 5th photo from the top that's sitting on top of a wood dresser, about in the middle. Looks like you have jewelry hanging off it...

  2. Well, I'm am so sorry to hear this, Rebecca. I first met you through the article in WWC. It was wonderful. And if I lived near I would have come to see you. Remember, "For I know the plans I have for you, saith the Lord...they are of good and not evil".
Just know we are all praying for His guidance in your life. He's probably about to do something you would never imagine.
I'd buy it all from you if I could...

  3. Yes it's just the beginning for something different. Please continue to share it with us, we are in the same situation and love to support each other. You are an amazing person. Ciao Rita

  4. So sorry to hear of the closing....I wish I was close, I would love to buy some little trinket!! I hope you will continue blogging!

  5. Rebecca dear, I know this must have been a difficult decision for you. God has been running a theme thru me lately of being in the place He wants us at a specific time. Opportunity comes when we are where, and doing what, He's asking us to. I know you will be doing something fabulous, who knows, maybe doing shows again are what you may have ahead.
Whatever it is, even if it's a break, it will be an anointed time for you. Wish I could have made it to your store, I loved each and every photo!
    much love, dear friend,

  6. Rebecca,

I am wishing you the very best journey for wherever the road may lead you. "Continuity gives us roots; change gives us branches, letting us stretch and grow and reach new heights". ~Pauline R. Kezer

After all, if nothing ever changed, there'd be no butterflies.
    Blessings to you and yours.

  7. Oh so many of the sweet little shops like yours are having to close their precious doors. I am so sorry but am excited to hear about the new adventure our Father is leading you to. His ways are always good and He promises to give us a future and a hope!!

    bee blessed

  8. Geez, I wish I could take a couple of displays off your hands - they are soooo gorgeous. But as I live in Europe... just not really do-able. I loved visiting your shop via your photos and wish you all the best on your next adventure, whatever it turns out to be!

  9. I'm so sorry Rebecca.....this must be a hard thing to do. I know many people who have had to close their doors and it makes me sad, but I also understand things are tough right now.

Wishing you much luck in the future. You are one talented lady and I'm sure you'll find your way.

    Take care,

  10. "good luck to you"... My hubby always says that any time something happens, even if it seems extreme and you don't like the change usually something good or even wonderful will come along... and he has been right in our 36 years together...Hugs to you,

  11. You my dear, Rebecca, have been a constant shining light with your gift of art and display. I know this, with the love a faith you have...there will only be better things around the corner for you. I am sure this was one of the hardest decisions you have had to make for awhile, but you don't know that what God is going to give you won't be better!!
My Blessing to you dear friend!

  12. Sorry to hear you have to close Rebecca - the time right now is really hard all over the world. I´m wishing you the best of luck with your new adventures though, and looking forward to follow.
    Blessing, Tina

  13. Hi Rebecca,

I've only just begun to know you but what I do know is that your love for the Lord is like a shining star.

Your love for art, design and display is your gift.

A path that you've never traveled will likely be shown to you....I have always found those to be the most exciting. They usually reveal something about yourself that you've not known before. I know that your spirit never turns a blind eye to things put in front of you...many blessings are missed by not paying attention and I know you are one to see them before you! ♥

Now more than ever it's a time for us to come closer, support and encourage one another. I have found the land of blog to be such a loving place for those of us that have creative souls.

Stay with us and continue blogging and sharing your journey.

I'll keep a watch for your life updates...I know there will be wonderful discoveries for you.

    Blessings for the day,
    Stephanie ♥

  14. Dear Rebecca,
I thinkt that you are taking a new path and will be happier than you know. It's not the end, only a new beginning.

I wish you the best. And I sure wish that I lived close by because your shop is loaded with goodies.

  15. Oh Rebecca,
I do feel for you. It must be so hard, letting go.
One has to look at it as a new beginning and move on which you are now doing, but it must be difficult. It has been a labour of love for you and you have put your heart and soul into the very fabric of the building so, to see it all go is difficult. But, it sounds as if you have come to terms with it and, as you say, you have new beginings on the horizon.
I wish you much love and success with any future projects.
    Thinking of you. XXXX

  16. the beginning of something complity different!
when a door closes, somewhere will open a window!
Let the Father lead your path...
    Good luck!!!

  17. Rebecca - I know you'll find your way and it will be exactly what God has planned for you. I'm so sorry though about your shop closing - it must tug at the heartstrings because of all the memories. Best of luck and please keep blogging - I love your blog!

  18. Oh, Rebecca. I was stunned to read this, although in the light of the present economy not really surprised. You are such a dear, amazing, woman, I just know some good will come of this. Take care and keep in touch. The classes we took at your shop are some of my most wonderful memories. Thank you for your kindness.

  19. You are so brave. As a shop/biz owner, making a decision to turn a corner like this is the hardest of all. But with the sense of loss in some ways, will also come a new sense of freedom and "air" to breathe again -- room to stretch your arms out and renew yourself. Being in biz for yourself is consuming. Period. May this new season find you renewing yourself and breathing deeply again -- getting things done for yourself that you never had time for before.

Yay for you and your braveness. :)

By the way, that vintage counter is INCREDIBLE. Oh if I only had a way to cone pick it up (I'm in Florida). :)

  20. I can imagine how hard it is to close the store, but as you said...once you start tearing the displays apart... it is time to move on. You will probably be relieved, but allow yourself time to feel sad too. I know you will come up with something wonderful to take on next. I am thinking about you! xo Joan@anythinggoeehere

  21. Rebecca, I am so sorry to read this but I so understand. You have to follow your heart and if there's no longer enough to keep the biz going then it's time to find something that you not only enjoy but can make money at too. I know you will follow your heart because wherever God leads you you'll be successful. I wish you the very best my friend in all you do, T

  22. Oh I am so sorry to hear about the shop closing. I loved it all. Thanks so much for those wonderful are so inspirational! We will keep in touch. Susan

  23. Rebecca,
I am sad for you, but I'm also rejoicing because I cannot wait to see what God has planned for you. Changes are scary, but also exciting especially for someone like you who follows where He leads and I just know this next journey will be a doozie.
I sure am glad Cat Daddy can't see that counter...he would flip!

  24. Rebecca ~

Hi! I know how sad this time must be for you, but also exciting! You have so very much talent and such strong faith that I have no doubt at all that truly wonderful things are ahead for you!!! I hope that you find just what your heart desires and what makes you truly happy to do in life!

    Hugs ~

    :) T

  25. Well now...You have told the world of your plans and I am proud!
I already know the Lord has amazing plans for the journey you are about to take... it was time you bought your ticket and took your seat!
Hold on girl! He has some incredible things lined up for you! And I have been praying that you get thru this takeoff from the old life and into the air with the new with out too much turbulance!
So buckle up my friend...the very best is yet to be and I don't know when they are serving beverages but I am needing something about about you! (Do you think they will have coffee? ha!ha!)
    You know I love ya!
As does the girl and we will talk soon!
    Have a brilliant day!
    Blessings and hugs,

  26. when it's time, it's time ... I am passing the word on to some other people who need things for their stores.
I know the exact feelings you are feeling ... you will look back without regret ...
it sounds like you are right in the center of God's will ...

    love you girl!

  27. Rebecca, I remember how it felt when I decided to close my shop. I mix of sadness and relief at the same time. I know you will find new ground and will be fabulous at whatever path you follow. Maybe shows? Best of luck and hope to see you again in Texas sometime.

  28. Rebecca- Now that it is public, the pressur e is off. Sell it, pack it and jump onto the next with both feet. I still miss my shop after 2 1/2 years but then I also wonder how I did all that. Excited for the future!

  29. Rebecca,
I'm sorry to hear about this...I'm sure that our Lord has better plans for you and everthing will be just fine. Your shop is full of some wonderful treasures and I'm sure you will be able to sell a lot of it...I wish you the best of luck!

  30. Dear Rebecca, Thinking of you, and knowing you'll continue to bless us all with your talents, however you decide to share them. Love, Penny

  32. Dearest Rebecca,
such a big decission, -but so well understood for me. I too, have had thoughts about closing my shop, ---this summer dosn`t give much hope for a sale, from which I can live in wintertime.Only living here on this little island I don`NT know what else to do, so I probably will hang on for some time, to see if next year changes for better.
I Wish you from my heart all the best dear Rebecca, I think I know the hard thoughts that have teared you apart, before you desided this.
    Love and hugs, and blessingd,--Dorthe

  33. You can tell by your photos that your shop was well loved ♥ Enjoy your new venture!

  34. I'm so so sorry to hear you are closing the store dear friend. Although I don't live near by, I always dreamed I could visit one day. I have no fear that you will be successful no matter where your life takes you now. My favorite quote may be especially appropriate for you now. "When you follow your bliss, doors will open where you would not have thought their would be doors" I'm sure there are so many wonderful opportunities just around the corner for you!

  35. Oh Rebecca,
How hard it must have been to get here...I can only imagine how much of your heart you have put into your shop...but I admire your attitude...It will be exciting to see what God has for you. maybe it will just be a season of rest!

  36. I knew this time was coming but reading it here it just doesn't seem real. You have put so much of yourself within these walls but I know that something new and exciting is just around the corner. Someone with as much talent and heart as you have will always succeed.
I look forward to seeing the new adventures in your future.

  57. Hey Rebecca I popped over for a visit this am and was sad to hear about you closing ... I loved to shop "visually" in your store whenever I saw pics here, on other blogs, or in the magazines ... but, I understand customers shoppping like myself doesn't help meet the bottom line each month ; )

The more I read however I get the feeling there are are many new and exciting adventures just waiting for you as you close these doors ... I can feel it deep down in my gypsy bones !!

Can't wait to watch your journey ... I'll be right here.
