Vintage Living... Closing

Vintage Living is closing...

it's doors after a great run these past few years.  I have enjoyed this shop more than any other I have had in the last 20 years but it is time for this shop-girl to say good-bye.  Times are hard and the small brick and mortar has been hit hard right now.  I have to tell you - I don't know where it is headed and for that reason, I don't have a vision and without vision it is time to do something else. Something will come...
I am trusting the Lord for a new vision, He is my pilot and I know good things will come. My first love is sharing how good the Lord is and my second love is my art. ( I am talking about things I do... not people) So with that in mind, the Lord has opened up some doors that are very exciting for me. I will keep you posted.

Since I am not opening or moving the shop I am selling off all my antique display cases. This cuts a little deeper as I have had them for years and I am rather fond of them. All new merchandise is 50% off right now and I am wheel'in and deal'in on the antiques. So if you are in the area stop on in!

These are the last of the photo's of the shop... it has been torn apart and I am selling it off little by little. These are the displays that are left, somewhat. After this week hopefully I will have sold quite a bit of it off.

I allowed myself a little time to feel sorry and then it was time to get to work... once I tore apart the displays I really liked, my heart was no longer in it and it has been easier to let it go.

If anyone knows of someone that might be interested in this fabulous counter, I would love to sell it. It came out of a Michigan hotel built in 1800, it was the front lobby desk. It is 17' long with the original paint.

Nice old farm table, old paint.

If you see anything you are interested in - please email me and I can give you prices.

Now I just want to take a little time to thank the many customers who have supported me through thick and thin and have followed my many stores! You are not only customers but you have become true friends and I have so loved  sharing your life. We have laughed, cried, celebrated and solved the worlds problems together and I  loved all of it and will miss that the most.
I also want to apologize to anyone that has seen the WWC article and are planning on coming to visit, I plan on being closed by mid August if not sooner.

This is not the end but a new beginning for me, I am expecting new and better things ahead.
Many Blessings
Rebecca

  1. Changes are tough ... Good for you for recognizing and following through!

I'm having a hard time adjusting to one myself. It's a good thing God loves me because I do give Him the run-around sometimes! I'm not so sure as to what's next except perhaps I might be there already, and that's okay.

I enjoy following your blog ... so I hope the next incarnation of you keeps posting!

Say, what is that little brownish display thing, 5th photo from the top that's sitting on top of a wood dresser, about in the middle. Looks like you have jewelry hanging off it...

  2. Well, I'm am so sorry to hear this, Rebecca. I first met you through the article in WWC. It was wonderful. And if I lived near I would have come to see you. Remember, "For I know the plans I have for you, saith the Lord...they are of good and not evil".
Just know we are all praying for His guidance in your life. He's probably about to do something you would never imagine.
I'd buy it all from you if I could...

  5. Rebecca dear, I know this must have been a difficult decision for you. God has been running a theme thru me lately of being in the place He wants us at a specific time. Opportunity comes when we are where, and doing what, He's asking us to. I know you will be doing something fabulous, who knows, maybe doing shows again are what you may have ahead.
Whatever it is, even if it's a break, it will be an anointed time for you. Wish I could have made it to your store, I loved each and every photo!
    much love, dear friend,
    Debra

  13. Hi Rebecca,

I've only just begun to know you but what I do know is that your love for the Lord is like a shining star.

Your love for art, design and display is your gift.

A path that you've never traveled will likely be shown to you....I have always found those to be the most exciting. They usually reveal something about yourself that you've not known before. I know that your spirit never turns a blind eye to things put in front of you...many blessings are missed by not paying attention and I know you are one to see them before you! ♥

Now more than ever it's a time for us to come closer, support and encourage one another. I have found the land of blog to be such a loving place for those of us that have creative souls.

Stay with us and continue blogging and sharing your journey.

I'll keep a watch for your life updates...I know there will be wonderful discoveries for you.

    Blessings for the day,
    Stephanie ♥

  15. Oh Rebecca,
I do feel for you. It must be so hard, letting go.
One has to look at it as a new beginning and move on which you are now doing, but it must be difficult. It has been a labour of love for you and you have put your heart and soul into the very fabric of the building so, to see it all go is difficult. But, it sounds as if you have come to terms with it and, as you say, you have new beginings on the horizon.
I wish you much love and success with any future projects.
    Thinking of you. XXXX

  18. Oh, Rebecca. I was stunned to read this, although in the light of the present economy not really surprised. You are such a dear, amazing, woman, I just know some good will come of this. Take care and keep in touch. The classes we took at your shop are some of my most wonderful memories. Thank you for your kindness.

  19. You are so brave. As a shop/biz owner, making a decision to turn a corner like this is the hardest of all. But with the sense of loss in some ways, will also come a new sense of freedom and "air" to breathe again -- room to stretch your arms out and renew yourself. Being in biz for yourself is consuming. Period. May this new season find you renewing yourself and breathing deeply again -- getting things done for yourself that you never had time for before.

Yay for you and your braveness. :)

By the way, that vintage counter is INCREDIBLE. Oh if I only had a way to cone pick it up (I'm in Florida). :)

  20. I can imagine how hard it is to close the store, but as you said...once you start tearing the displays apart... it is time to move on. You will probably be relieved, but allow yourself time to feel sad too. I know you will come up with something wonderful to take on next. I am thinking about you! xo Joan@anythinggoeehere

  21. Rebecca, I am so sorry to read this but I so understand. You have to follow your heart and if there's no longer enough to keep the biz going then it's time to find something that you not only enjoy but can make money at too. I know you will follow your heart because wherever God leads you you'll be successful. I wish you the very best my friend in all you do, T

  32. Dearest Rebecca,
such a big decission, -but so well understood for me. I too, have had thoughts about closing my shop, ---this summer dosn`t give much hope for a sale, from which I can live in wintertime.Only living here on this little island I don`NT know what else to do, so I probably will hang on for some time, to see if next year changes for better.
I Wish you from my heart all the best dear Rebecca, I think I know the hard thoughts that have teared you apart, before you desided this.

I have no fear that you will be successful no matter where your life takes you now. My favorite quote may be especially appropriate for you now. "When you follow your bliss, doors will open where you would not have thought their would be doors" I'm sure there are so many wonderful opportunities just around the corner for you!
